The department offers English and Kiswahili.
Language is our primary source of communication. It’s the method through which we share our ideas and thoughts with others. There are two official languages in Kenya i.e. Kiswahili and English whereby English is the official/formal language. English is used as a communication tool in many other countries.
Being competent in the use of official languages not only raises your social status but also gives you an opportunity to express yourself in a better way, build relationships, and establish rapport easily with people who cannot communicate with you in the first language.
There are thousands of languages in this world. Learning a new language therefore allows you to communicate with new people and see things from a different perspective. We encourage our learners to take a keen interest in languages as they are pivotal while making career choices.
The skills acquired; listening, speaking, reading, and writing also help in the interpretation of concepts in the other subjects. Understanding English is vital because it is the language of instruction in Kenyan schools.
We have a dedicated team of teachers in the languages department. Various programs have been put in place to help students excel both in English and Kiswahili which include:
- Team teaching
- Discussion groups
- Peer teaching
- Staging set books
- Language clubs – debating
- Journalism – Writers
We sincerely appreciate the unwavering support from the administration and look forward to taking the school to the highest achievable mean.
Together as one.
